Darian Meacham
Expert on ethics and responsibility in innovation
Associate Professor of Philosophy and Senior Researcher in Ethics and Responsible Innovation at the Brightlands Institute for Smart Society (BISS) of Maastricht University. Studied at McGill University in Montreal, Canada (B.Sc.) and at the University of Leuven, Belgium (M.Sc. and Ph.D.).
He researches how the things we build shape how we interact in society, in politics, at work and in scientific practice.
His main teaching and research interests are political philosophy, phenomenology, philosophy of technology and bioethics. He is particularly interested in questions related to the concept of Europe and post-national political institutions, as well as in the political, ethical and anthropological issues raised by new technologies. At the most fundamental level, he has a keen interest in the relationship between meaning and nature.
